Ukraine reported 264 Russian Drone attacks in 48 hours amid the freezing of Trump assistance

London – Russia launched a wave of new drone attacks to Ukraine overnight until Sunday morning when the country returned from a bloody weekend from air strikes which according to Kyiv killed at least 24 people.

The Ukraine Air Force said Russia launched 119 drones to the country last night, 73 of them were shot down and 37 lost on flights without causing damage.

Impacts were reported in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia areas, the Air Force said in a telegram post.

Russia has intensified its long -term strike in Ukraine over the past week, to coincide with President Donald Trump’s decision to stop all military assistance and share intelligence with Ukraine in an effort to force Kyiv into negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the three -year -old Moscow who was three years old.

Friday night saw Russia launching 145 drones and three missiles to Ukraine, said the Air Force. Reportedly down 79 drones with 54 others missing in flights.

On Saturday, Ukraine said 24 people were killed in drone attacks in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Odesa. Among the devastated locations are residential buildings and shopping centers in the city of Donetsk Dobropillya, which suffered ballistic missile attacks and drones.

Ukraine continued the long distance attack on Russia on Saturday night. The Russian Ministry of Defense said it downed 88 Ukraine drones over eight Russian regions, while the Russian Federal Air Transportation Agency introduced temporary operations restrictions at the airports in Astrakhan, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.

Ukraine European Allies issued a fierce criticism over the Russian weekend attack.

“This is what happens when someone calms barbarians,” wrote Polish President Donald Tusk in X, added, “More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Other tragic nights in Ukraine.”

The head of the European Union diplomat, Kaja Kallas, wrote in X, “Russian missiles continue to fall endlessly in Ukraine, bringing more death and more destruction.”

“Once again, Putin showed that he was not interested in peace,” he added. “We have to increase our military support – if not, even more Ukraine civilians will pay the highest price.”

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, meanwhile, expressed his condolences to the victims of Saturday attacks at a post to social media. “Of course, we do our best to protect life,” he wrote.

“I thank all leaders, all diplomats from our partner countries, all public figures who support Ukraine, who have condemned this Russian attack and who mentioned all things in the right name,” he added.

“It is very important for us to continue to coordinate all our efforts with our partners to ensure that our defense works effectively and that we do everything to bring peace closer,” Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine urged the start of US military assistance and sharing intelligence, both of which were implemented after a disaster meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy in the White House.

Trump has been repeatedly – and wrongly framing his colleagues in Ukraine as an unauthorized leader and Ukraine as an entrepreneur of the Russian War. Ukrainian and European leaders have expressed concern about what they see as an alignment of US with Russian narratives about war since Trump returned to the White House.

Ukraine and American officials will meet in Saudi Arabia next week for discussions about ending the war. National security advisor Mike Waltz and State Secretary Marco Rubio will lead the US delegation.

On Friday, Trump told reporters “We did it very well with Russia,” which he said “bombed out of Ukraine.”

Asked if he felt Putin exploited the US freezing on his assistance in his intensive attack in Ukraine, Trump added, “I really think he did what others would do … I thought he wanted to stop and settle.”

The President is also frame Ukraine as the main barrier to peace. “I feel more difficult, frank, to deal with Ukraine. And they don’t have a card,” Trump said. “In terms of getting the final settlement, it might be easier to deal with Russia.”
