“Rep. Pettersen is on the waiting list for child care like most Americans. And like all mothers, he found a way to make him work,” said Pettersen’s office spokesman about Sam’s performance at Tuesday’s trial.

Earlier this year, Pettersen held Sam 9 weeks old during a passionate speech on the floor of the house. He returned earlier than the time off to speak to support bipartisan efforts to allow proxy voting for parliamentary members who, like him, are new parents.

“I think we can accommodate the challenges at a new workplace here at the congress to ensure that more women and young families can be represented here now,” he said while speaking and screaming in his arms.

The move failed in the DPR in April, but Pettersen continued to encourage parents’ privileges for members of the congress – say “Congress is not made for women” in A Post on X in April.

Pettersen is only a 13th member of the DPR who gave birth while in the congress.
