Trump announced on Tuesday that he would double the Canadian steel tariff in response to ontario which issued electricity tariffs to the state bordering state.

“I have instructed my trade secretary to an additional 25%tariff, up to 50%, in all steel and aluminum that came to the United States from Canada, one of the highest reinforcement countries everywhere in the world. This will begin in effect tomorrow morning, March 12,” he said in a social post.
Trump also said that he stated “national emergency about electricity,” in areas that are influenced by tariffs from Canada. He said that the national emergency would “allow the US to quickly do what to do” to respond to tariffs from Canada, without providing specific actions that the US might take.

He also asked Canada to drop their tariffs on dairy farmers.
