Governor of California Newsom demands Fox News of $ 787 million for defamation

Governor California Gavin Newsom demanded Fox News for $ 787 million for defamation.
Newsom accusations originated from Fox News Host Jesse Watters about the battle between Governor and President Donald Trump when Trump’s government sent the California National Guard to Los Angeles earlier this month.
Watters allegedly reported on Fox News that Newsom lied about telephone calls with Trump, and the Governor claimed in his lawsuit that Watters performances were misleading editing Trump’s video to support the claim.
Trump, asked by a reporter on June 10 when was the last time he had spoken to newsom, replied, “a day ago. Called him to tell him, got to do a better job, he’s doing a bad job” – even though, 1:28 AM Et on June 7, and Newsom said they had not discussed the protest in question.
After Newsom confirmed in X that the two did not speak on June 9 as Trump said, Watters, according to the lawsuit, accused Newsom of lying and playing Trump’s video clip that told the reporters that had been discussed by both of them – but editing the beginning of the clip where Trump said “a day ago.”
“If Fox News wants to lie to Americans on behalf of Donald Trump, it must face consequences – as in the dominion case,” Newsom said in a statement on Friday, referring to 2023 the settlement achieved by Fox with a dominion ballot system – also for $ 787 million – after the polling machine company dominated Fox News that encouraged dominance.
“I believe the American people must be able to trust the information they receive from headline outlets,” Newsom said in his statement. “Until Fox is willing to be honest, I will continue to fight against their propaganda machine.”

In a letter sent to Fox, Newsom’s lawyer said that except Fox News issued extraction and apology in the air, “We will continue with the lawsuit so that the jury can determine Fox News errors and determine monetary value for ‘unethical’ behavior openly.”
Fox News, in a statement, said, “The transparent publicity action of the Governor Newsom is reckless and designed to relax with a critical freedom of speech about him. We will defend this case with enthusiasm and hope to be dismissed.”
