Trump's military parade is a dog and pony performance. And the dog is named Doc Holliday

When the Army celebrated its 250th birthday on June 14, the date which happened to be the 79th anniversary of President Donald Trump, Washington’s streets, DC, will be filled with troops and tanks lined up as Air War II aircraft and Helikopter-Helikopter-Helikopter Vietnam.

Also included in the parade are 34 horses, two bagals, one cart and a dog.

Colonel Army Kamil Sztalkoper, a spokesman for the Stevers Lapis III Corps, said that the dog was a blue heel (aka an Australian cattle dog) named “Doc Holliday”-the possibility of nodding in the famous Gunslinger of the Civil War era played by Val Kilmer in the film “Tombstone.”

This Australian cattle dog, named “Doc Holiday,” will take part in the celebration of the 250th birthday of the US Army on June 14, 2025, in Washington, DC

DOC joined the Detachment of the Cavalry of the Cavity Division of the Army Cavision at Fort Cavazos, Texas, more than two years ago as a young puppies, said Sztalkoper. Part of the unit, which is mostly used for community events, is a train withdrawn by two bagals. Doc climbed behind the cart.

“This is nothing for him. He is used to the parade,” Sztalkoper said, noting that DOC had participated twice in the rose parade in Pasadena, California. And while DOC is included “Definitely in a sweet and pleasant category,” Sztalkoper says he “knows the place very well when it’s time for the parade.”

Doc and his plan to depart from Texas on June 10 so that they can reach Washington in time to participate in the Army Parade four days later.

The DOC trip to the country’s capital is part of the large -scale efforts being carried out by the Army – and Trump – to mark the anniversary of a service milestone with festivals and parade for a week which includes around 6,700 troops. Planning for the celebration has been going on for almost two years, according to officials. However, only this year after Trump’s inauguration, officials began exploring the options to make the event bigger with a parade.

Trump has sought a military parade in his first term, but the effort was canceled after the cost reached $ 90 million.

The end of this year’s event is unknown. While the Army is estimated to spend up to $ 45 million to mobilize troops and equipment, the celebration is expected to require considerable security with large -scale events such as Super Bowl or the inauguration of the President.

Although Army officials said there were no plans for one of the seven bands participating in the parade to sing “Happy Birthday” for Trump, the gold knight will be parachute to the White House Elliptis and offers the folded American flag president. After the parade, Trump will also manage the constitutional oath to 250 troops.

“This is a lot of money, but I think the amount of money is dwarfed by 250 years of service and sacrifice that has been given by American army to this country,” Army spokesman Steve Warren said.

“We see this as an opportunity to really strengthen the relationship between America and its troops,” he added. “So, yes, this is a lot of money, but it has no meaning compared to what we sell.”

This event was not the first military parade in Washington, even though it was probably the biggest. The US military under President George HW Bush held a victory parade in June 1991 after the Persian Gulf War.

The tanks were published for transportation at Fort Cavazos, near Killeen, Texas, May 21, 2025.

Army officials said the parade was designed to tell the history of the army, starting with troops wearing revolutionary warfare. When the Parade entered the era of World War II, the troops would line up with the M4 Sherman Tank while the Mitchell B-25 bomber, the Douglas C-47 Skytrain transportation aircraft and four P-51 Mustang Fighter-Bombers Buzz Buzz on the head. A newer conflict will be represented by the UH-1 Huey Army, AH-1 Cobra, AH-64 Apache and Chinook’s CH-47 helicopter.

Also included in the parade is 28 M1 Abrams Tanks, 28 Stryker vehicles and four Howitzer Self-Propelled Paladin M-109.

The Army on Wednesday began loading a tank to a train car from its base at Fort Cavazos to travel to Washington, DC at the end of this month. The tanks will be sent to Jessup, Maryland, before being loaded to the truck and taken to the staging area in Washington near Lincoln Memorial.
