Trump targets the law firm Paul Weiss, limiting government access

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday suspending the security permit Mark Pomerantz and those who worked in Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. The order also limits government access to lawyers and employees in the New York -based law firm.
“Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to suspend security permits held by people in Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (Paul Weiss) awaiting a review whether the permit is consistent with national interests, “The White House the word in the fact sheet.
Pomerantz oversees the Investigation of the Manhattan District Prosecutor’s Office on Trump and its business practice.

In particular, the executive order was signed on the same day when Trump spoke at the Department of Justice, where he attacked those who demanded him.
The new executive order was the third time Trump took action against the law firm. On Wednesday, a federal judge while blocking the parts of Trump’s executive order targeting Perkins Coie, who decided the order was not constitutional.
The language in this executive order reflects the order targeting Perkins Coie.

Judge Beryl Howell said the actions taken by Trump’s administration which targeted these companies “scary” to the legal community and noted that the DOJ argument in the support of sending “shivering my spine.”
The company also has other well -known Democrats among its ranks, including former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former Domestic Secretary Jey Johnson, and is one of the biggest donors for Democrats and former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.
“The executive order was focused on the Mark Pomerantz activity, who retired from the company in 2012 and then worked in the District Prosecutor’s office almost a decade later,” Paul Weiss said in a statement to ABC News. “Mr. Pomerantz has not been affiliated with the company for many years. The provisions of a similar order were ordered as non -constitutional earlier this week by the Federal District Court judge.
