‘There is no one above the law’: AG Bondi detonated a judge who was accused of helping immigrants avoid arrest

The federal government announced two separate arrests on Friday from a judge at this time and a former judge suspected of having helped immigrants claimed by the authorities were cruel criminals, steps that raised the red flag between Democrats and others.
The Milwaukeeeee Hannah Dugan Circuit judge was arrested on Friday by the FBI for allegedly assisted in the arrest of immigrant Evade who did not document last week. His arrest occurred for hours after the federal authority arrested former New Mexico judge Joel Cano and his wife Nancy Cano for allegedly accommodating a Venezuelan citizen with a gang ties reported, said Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Bondi spoke with Kyra Phillips from ABC News Live on Friday afternoon to discuss these cases and fired critics who accused Trump’s administration of intimidating judges who were against their strong actions against non -document immigrants.

“Nothing is above the law, even judges,” Bondi told Philips.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest of judges Dugan on Friday in the previous Friday at a social media post, which was briefly deleted and re -posted.
“Just now, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan from Milwaukee, Wisconsin with an obstruction accusation – after the evidence of the Dugan judge prevented the immigration arrest operation last week,” Patel said in a new post. “We believe that the Dugan judge deliberately directed the federal agent from the subject to be arrested at his court building, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, who allowed the subject – illegal aliens – to avoid arrests.”
Dugan was charged with two criminal charges “hindering and hampering trials before the Department or American agents” and “hiding someone to prevent their invention and arrest,” according to a criminal complaint that was not sealed Friday.
The regional court record shows that immigrants are not documented in the Milwaukee-Eduardo Flores-Ruiz-Ruiz case-determined to appear in court on April 18 before the Dugan for a pretrial conference in a case where he was charged with three allegations of minor violations/domestic harassment connected to the incident on March 12. This case is ongoing.
Prosecutor Federal accused Flores-Ruiz illegally entered the US of Mexico and issued an accelerated transfer order in January 2013, according to criminal complaints.
Bondi accused that Flores-Ruiz defeated his roommate and a woman so bad that they needed to be treated at the hospital and that he continued to fight in the hospital before his arrest.
According to the complaint, Dugan allegedly tried to help Flores-Ruiz avoid arrest by federal officers from the ICE task force.
When the Dugan judge learned that the ICE officer was present in court to arrest Flores-Ruiz, he became “looking angry” and said the situation was “unreasonable” before leaving the bench and entered his room, according to the complaint, who quoted witnesses who spoke to the FBI.
Dugan and other unknown judges were then allegedly approaching the arrest team in the public alley, according to the complaint. He “looked upset and had a confrontative and angry attitude” and asked one of the officers whether they were present for the court’s performance, alleged complaints.
When the officer answered that they were there to make an arrest, the complaint accused Judge Dugan asked if they had a court warrant, which was responded by the officers, “No, I have an administrative warrant.”
Several witnesses quoted in the complaint were then allegedly said the Judge Dugan returned to the courtroom after directing the members of the arrest team to the office of the Judge of the Court.
“The representative of the courtroom then saw the judge Dugan rising and heard the Dugan judge saying something like ‘Wait, join me,'” said the complaint. “Although it has been told about the administrative warrant for the arrest of Flores-Ruiz, Judge Dugan then escorted Flores-Ruiz and his advisor came out of the courtroom through the ‘jury door,’ which led to the non-public area in the court building.”
“So he continued, continued with his mom, completing his mom. Two victims sat in court throughout the morning waiting and in the end. The prosecutor said ‘what happened? Why was the case not called?'” Bondi said.
An agent Dea saw Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer in the public hallway of the court building and apparently made efforts to avoid arrests, the complaint said. After he was met by the FBI and Dea agents outside the building, Flores-Ruiz “turned around and ran on the road” before he was finally arrested, according to the complaint.

Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke about the arrest of the Milwaukee District Circuit judge Hannah Dugan at ABC News, April 25, 2025.

Dugan was arrested on Friday morning at the Court Building, a law enforcement official who was confirmed to ABC News.
He appeared at the US District Court for the East Wisconsin District on Friday on two charges, but did not submit an application. He was released for his own recognition.
Dugan defended former United States prosecutor Steven Biscupic to represent him and he said in a statement that the judge would “defend himself with enthusiasm and hope to be released.”
“Judge Hannah C. Dugan has committed to the rule of law and the principles of the legal process for all his careers as lawyers and judges,” Biscupic said in a statement.
If it is proven on the accusation, Dugan can face six years in prison.
Bondi responded to the statement by stating that everyone was entitled to their day in court but reiterated that as well as victims of crime.
“They did not get it because he let the defendant come out of the door. He helped them. He was blocking justice,” Bondi told Phillips.
The arrest of Judge Dugan made the anger of Mayor Milwaukee Cavalier Johnson who accused the federal agent of “showboating” and argued that Dugan was not a flight risk.
“They only try to have this power and in a court home process where people need to go for the court process, they frighten people from participating in the court process,” the Mayor told reporters.
Governor Wisconsin Tony Evers, in a statement on Friday afternoon, criticized President Donald Trump and the White House for what he said was an effort “to attack and try to damage our justice at every level.”
Evers said he would continue to have confidence in the justice system “because this situation occurred in court.” He did not mention the name Dugan.
In an interview on Friday, Phillips asked Ag Bondi whether he thought the government’s actions intimidated the court, but he avoided the question.
“We are trying to protect citizens, making America safe again,” he said.
Bondi stated the New Mexico case where former judge Joel Cano faced accusations of damaging evidence.
Court documents accuse that on February 28, a member of the deraraua trend gang who was allegedly arrested at the residence of Canos.
On April 24, the agents served a search warrant at their residence and conducted an interview with Cano where he claimed to destroy a cellphone belonging to a gang member who was allegedly by destroying it with a hammer and throwing it in the trash, according to complaints and Bondi.
“Cano stated that he destroyed his cellphone and then admitted that he was sure the cellphone contained photos or videos that would reflect negatively on Ortega,” the complaint said. “Through further questions, the agent ensured that … Cano destroyed the cellphone with a believing that it contained orthi photos holding firearms that had been uploaded by Ortega to the social media platform that would be additional proof that burdensome.”

Cano and his wife have not included an application in their case, according to court records, and do not immediately have a defender lawyer registered for them.
Bondi reiterated that the migrants connected to the judge were allegedly cruel.
Phillips again pushed Bondi about the arrest, asking whether there was a concern that the federal government only pursued judges, but AG stated that the accusation was serious.
“They are people who must be captured and brought out of our country. No matter who you are, no one can save it, even a judge,” he said.
Phillips questioned how far the government was willing to go to capture immigrants who did not document, and if that means that the mayor and governor could be targeted.
Bondi seems to avoid questions and reiterate that the administrative goal is to keep people safe.
“I hope that a mayor I will have a governor will never accommodate anyone,” he said.
