The deadly storm slammed the New Jersey, the city that was devastated by the celebration of July 4

The deadly storm with the wind reaching 60 MPH tore -Robek Central New Jersey, forced a city to cancel the Fourth of July.

Severe lightning Thursday night killed at least three people: one in North Plainfield and two in Plainfield, about 30 miles westernly New York, ABC New York Station Wabc reported.

Plainfield’s death was a 79 -year -old man and a 25 -year -old man who died when a tree fell in their car, according to the city.

“Our hearts are heavy,” said Mayor Adrian O. Mapp in a statement. “We are grieving with family and ready to support them in all possible ways.”

Plainfield is under an emergency, with the mayor saying “destroying storms” leaving “deep scars” and “widespread damage.”

“Considering this tragedy, we cannot, with a good conscience, continuing with our parade, concert, or fireworks of our Fourth of July,” the Mayor said in a statement overnight. “This is not a time for celebrations. This is the time to regroup and focus all our energy on recovery.”

“There will be time to celebrate again, to fly our flags and enjoy the excitement of the community,” said the Mayor. “But now, we must gather to clean, to support each other, and to start the work of rebuilding.”

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on Thursday night warned residents to stay inside to avoid falling trees, piling up electricity channels and burning transformers.
