RFK Jr. pointing to the old ally of anti-vaccine Lyn Redwood to the HHS position

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Having hired an anti-vaccine and old-fashioned advocate for a position in the Ministry of Health and Human Services, someone who is familiar with the problem was confirmed to ABC News.

Lyn Redwood served for years as President of the Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization founded by Kennedy. The exact role in HHS is unclear.

Andrew Nixon, a spokesman for the department, refused to comment.

Meanwhile, Redwood is expected to give a presentation at the Meeting of the Immunization Advisory Advisory Committee (ACIP) on Thursday using reports about Thimerosal which is currently available online, which contains misleading information and quoting sources that appear to be absent, according to a writer, who told ABC News that he was quoted in the report.

Thimerosal is a preservative in the vaccine intended to prevent contamination. Currently used in around 4% flu injections but removed from the routine children’s vaccine in 2001.

“To my knowledge, a study of mice referred to the CDC presentation planned by Lyn Redwood stated that RF as the first writer did not exist,” Robert F Berman, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at the University of California Davis, said.

“I have not published a paper with the title or with a series of authors in the Journal of Neurotoxicology in 2008. Also, there is no research on me that made a statement about the possibility of a thimerosal effect on microglia in the brain or producing neuroimmunic effects,” said Berman.

The quote has been deleted from an online revised presentation.

The Washington Post first reported the promise of Redwood’s meeting to HHS.

Redwood has held old belief that mercury exposure through vaccines containing thimerosal causes autism. Specifically, he directly connects the autism of his son with a mercury exposure from the new Kanak -Kanakak vaccine in October 2024 at A Podcast with RFK Jr.

Tens of years of study did not find a relationship between autism and vaccine or preservatives of any vaccine, including thimerosal.

“Thimerosal is removed from all routine -routine vaccines in the US because of a lot of death -it is still used as a preservative in most worlds. Many studies have shown that it is safe and has no relationship with nerve developmental disorders,” Dr. Sean O’Leary, Chair of the American Academy from the Pediatric Committee.

A comprehensive report on the existing evidence by Medical Institute in 2004 Concluding, “The body of epidemiological evidence supports the rejection of the causal relationship between the vaccine and autism containing thimerosal.”

That Disease Control and Prevention Center Also said, “Research does not show any relationship between Thimerosal and Autism.”

Although this preservative is not often used in the US, if eliminated or no longer recommended in the remaining flu injections, the doctor is worried that it can cause unnecessary gaps in vaccine access and potential damage by not protecting these people.

“Every decrease in the number of available flu vaccines is likely to result in fewer people who are vaccinated and subsequently, more inpatient and death. The removal can also give signals to the general public who are reasonable,” O’Leary said.

At least one vaccine expert said he shuddered on Wednesday to the idea of Redwood to join HHS.

Fiona Havers, a 13 -year -old CDC veteran who works on the vaccine policy, told ABC News in a statement, “Lyn Redwood is famous for spreading the wrong vaccine information. It is very disturbing that Redwood may now have an official role in HHS and has the potential to be in a position to interfere with official messages about vaccine safety.

ABC News has contacted Redwood to comment.

Redwood and Kennedy have long been close. In a conversation between the two of them at Kennedy’s podcast last year, Kennedy praised Redwood by being a figure who “coordinated” “the Crusades” by mothers who convinced Kennedy to begin to see the potential dangers of vaccines in the early 2000s.

Redwood was also involved in President Kennedy’s recent campaign, coordinating volunteers and training in the collection of petitions in Georgia, his home state, according to the registration page on the campaign website.
