Last year, a London judge rule The British government has the right to strip Harry, the youngest son Raja Charles IIIFrom automatic security details during a visit to England.
Reading the summary of the decision that rejected Harry’s appeal, the judge said on Friday that the argument filed by his lawyer was “strong and touching,” and that, “explained that the Duke of Sussex felt treated badly by the system.”
“I concluded, after studying the details of the extensive documentation, I could not say that Duke’s complaint was translated into the legal argument for the challenges of Ravec’s decision,” he continued. “Duke basically stepped in and out of the protection cohort provided by Ravec. Outside England, he was outside the group, but when in England, his safety would be considered appropriate.”
He added, “It is impossible to say that this reason is unreasonable or inappropriate, it seems to make sense.”
Harry hasn’t commented on the decision.
In their appeal to the decision, Harry’s lawyer argued in the April court hearing that the 40-year-old player faced security risks, including from Al-Qaeda, which they said had called for Harry’s murder.
Harry, who is fifth in line with the British throne, has said before that the risk of safety is very high in England so he feels reluctant to bring his family to his home country.
In the closing remarks in the court last month, Harry’s lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, told the judge that Harry was “at stake.”
“There is someone who sits behind me whose safety, his security, and whose life is at stake,” said Fatima. “There is someone sitting behind me who was told that he got the process ordered first when he knew and had undergone a process that was significantly lower in everything.”
Harry traveled from California to England to attend the hearing last month, arriving at his own court, without his wife Meghan or a member of the royal family.
After staying away from the role of their senior kingdom, Harry and Meghan moved to California, where they now live with them two childrenArchie and Lilibet.
The four families are unknown to have traveling To England together since 2022, when they attended the celebration of Platinum Jubilee for Grandma Harry, the late Ratu Elizabeth II.
Since moving to California, Sussex has relied on a security team that is funded personally.
