Minnesota Parliament member Melissa Hortman was killed, the State Senator John Hoffman was in a serious condition in the ‘targeted political violence’

A representative of Minnesota’s state and her husband was shot and killed, and a state senator and his wife were shot and injured in “acts of political violence targeted” at their home Saturday morning, said Governor Minnesota Team Walz.
The hunting is now ongoing for armed men disguised as police officers, said the authorities. The armed man attacked by knocking on the door and asking the victims to get out, said the police.

Representative of the State of Melissa Hortman, a Democrats, and her husband was shot and killed in what appeared to be “murder with political motivated,” Walz said at a press conference.
“He is a formidable public servant,” the governor said about his friend. “He’s irreplaceable.”
The state senator John Hoffman, a Democrats, and his wife both was shot several times and underwent operations, the Governor said.
“We are very optimistic they will survive this murder effort,” Walz said.

Two shooting locations are a few miles from each other in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, right north of Minneapolis.
Hoffman and his wife were shot around 2 am in Champlin, Criminal Bureau Supervisor Drew Evans said.
After Hoffman was shot, officers headed to the check proactively to Hortman when they met the suspect at Hortman’s house, said Evans.

The officers found someone dressed as a police officer – wearing a vest and badge, and with Taser – at the door, coming out of Hortman’s house, the police said.
The suspect fired the officers; The shot was exchanged and the suspect could escape and escape on foot, said the authorities.
The suspect vehicle – who looked like a police vehicle – was on Hortman’s entrance, said the authorities.

The list of other targets that might be taken from the suspect vehicle, said the authorities. The police said the list had “many parliamentary members,” including the victims.
Safety resources have been sent to protect the people mentioned in the list, said the authorities.

The armed man said something to the victims, said the police, but the authorities did not express what it was.
Deputy Director of the FBI and Bongino said the agency was “fully involved in the field in Minnesota and in collaboration with local partners and our states.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi said he “monitored developments in Minnesota after what appeared to be an attack targeted on members of the state parliament.”
“This terrible violence will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted as far as the law,” he said in a statement.

Hortman is a former speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Ken Martin, previously the Chairman of the Democratic Party Minnesota, said he was friends with Hoffman and Hortman.
Martin wrote on social media that he was “really broken hearted” and “prayed hard for the two families.”
With the hunting, the police urged community members to be careful. The police warned, if an officer came to your door, call 911 to confirm that the officer should be there.
