Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday that after the exchange was completed, Russia would submit the draft “which outlines the conditions to reach a sustainable, long -term, comprehensive settlement agreement,” according to the Russian state media.

Ukraine Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on Friday that Ukraine was committed to a ceasefire and called the exchange as the “first stage.”

“We reached 1,000 for 1,000. After this, if it would succeed, as I said first was the exchange, the second was a ceasefire,” he said.

Such exchanges have occurred throughout the 3-year-old Russian invasion, even though the exchanges have finished being the largest to date. Detention exchange is one of the few fields where Moscow and Kyiv can reach an agreement during the conflict.
