Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, who was being investigated to handle sensitive military information, traveled to Michigan on Tuesday with President Donald Trump in what seemed to show support for the Head of Pentagon whose term of office had triggered a Democratic call to his resignation.

Speaking at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Trump introduced his defense secretary to the guard members, telling them that Hegseth did “a very great job.”

In a brief comment after Trump, Hegseth praised the President.

“Just because the head commander invited me,” Hegseth said, pointing to Trump. “Mr. President, thank you for restoring the ethos of soldiers in our formation, for rebuilding our military, rebuilding prevention throughout the world and making Americans proud to wear uniforms.”

Hegseth then added: “All I want when I was in battle was to know that my commander supported whatever happened, and with Donald J Trump, the commander supported you.”

Hegseth’s office refused to answer questions about why he was added to Trump’s group as part of the President’s journey to celebrate 100 days in the office. Previous Hegseth involvement was not announced.

Trump will speak later with a crowd of general meetings in Warren, Michigan, to hear his achievements for the first 100 days. He joined the base by Democratic Governor Michigan Gretchen Whitmer when he announced that Selfridge would receive 21 F-15 fighters who would increase his future.

An infantry officer at the US Army National Guard, Hegseth was deployed to the Bay of Guantanamo, Iraq and Afghanistan before leaving the service with the rank of major, according to military records.

“Since the first day, our main goal is clear: restoring the ethos of the soldiers, rebuilding our military, and rebuilding prevention,” said Sean Parnell, a senior advisor to Hegseth. “In 100 days, the Department of Defense and War we have given a historic victory to the American people.”

Hegseth, a former Fox News anchor, was confirmed narrowly by the senate earlier this year after the accusation of misinterbeats in a non -profit veteran, sexual violence and heavy drinking – all the accusations he refused and said aimed to smear his reputation.

Two months after Hegseth took the leadership at the Pentagon, Atlantic reported that he used a signal of commercial messaging applications to renew other national security officials, including Vice President JD Vance, with detailed plans for military attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen. Hegseth then used a second signal chat to provide sensitive details to his wife, brothers and personal lawyers, ABC News was confirmed.

The Pentagon Independent Watchdog, Dod Acting Inspector General Steven Stebbins, said he would investigate the use of signals by Hegseth and others.

Trump then told Atlantic that he spoke with Hegseth following the report.

“I think he will collect it,” Trump said about Hegseth. “I talked to him, a positive conversation, but I’ve talked to him.”

Increasing the commotion is the departure of several top aides to the secretary. Hegseth’s Chief of Staff, Joe Kasper, recently resigned, moved to the role of part-time advisors. Hegseth fired three other close helpers for what he said leaked, even though the maids said they had not been approached by the investigators and remained unclear what the accusation was. And the fifth advisor resigned, wrote a spicy opinion article that mentioned the handling of hegseth to Pentagon “Total chaos. “

Meanwhile, Hegseth said he struggled to impose the president’s agenda. On Tuesday, shortly before going on his journey with the president, Hegseth said he “proudly” ended the small defense department program aimed at strengthening women’s participation in helping to resolve conflicts abroad, calling the effort as a “initiative of justice that divided/social/stem.”

Programs – called “Women, Peace and Security” – signed to be law by Trump during their first term of office in 2017 after several Republicans, including Trump Noem and Marco Rubio cabinet members, who were members of the parliament at the time, sponsored the bill.

In 2019, Trump’s administration outlines strategies to implement programs, including insisting women representatives by other countries during peace talks. Princess Trump, Ivanka Trump, including among his supporters.

“The process of peace and efforts to develop peace is more successful when women have an influential role,” Trump’s government wrote at the time.

But according to Hegseth, this program never succeeded.

“The scream politician on him; the troops hated him,” Hegseth insisted.

Hegseth admitted in the next post that the effort was indeed Trump’s initiative with the support of the Republic. He then accused the administration of Biden to damage it.

In 2021, President Joe Biden and Congress included $ 5.5 million in DOD expenditure to implement the law, including recruitment and training personnel.
