George Wendt, who played the norm in 'Cheers, died in 76

George Wendt, the famous actor for playing Peterson norm in the sitcom that has been running for a long time “cheers,” has died. He is 76 years old.

Wendt received six Emmy nominations for his role in the NBC comedy series.

Born on October 17, 1948, in Chicago, Wendt began his career in the field of comedy at The Second City Theater in Chicago.

Before “Cheers,” he starred in several roles on television, including “M*A*S*H,” “Taxi” and “Soap” before a big rest in “Cheers.”

Wendt starred in all 275 episodes of “Cheers” from the time of the first event aired in 1982 to its last episode in 1993.

In the 2021 interview with Chicago Magazine, Wendt remembered the first time he auditioned for “Cheers.”

“I need to look like a man who wants to drink beer again,” he said.

The actor added that he was exactly like a norm, only “with better writing.”

Following “Cheers,” Wendt appeared on “Saturday night Live,” “Sabrina The Teenage Witch,” “Frasier,” “George Lopez” and other television shows.

He also starred in several television films, including “Alice in Wonderland” in 1999, “Strange Relations” in 2001, “Santa Baby” in 2006 and more.

Wendt married his wife, Bernadette Birkett in 1978. The duo met while working in the second city theater.

They share a daughter named Hilary and two sons, Joe and Daniel.

Wendt is also uncle Actor Jason Sudeikis.
