DOJ UNSEALS The first case of terrorism against the alleged members of the de Aragua trend

Prosecutors have opened accusations of federal terrorism targeting the alleged “high rank” members of the Trend de Aragua Venezuela Gang arrested in Colombia last month, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

Jose Enrique Martinez Flores, also referred to as “Chuqui,” was the first TDA member who was charged with violations of terrorism because of the declaration of President Donald Trump who appointed the gang as a terrorist organization.

Filling documents describe Flores as “high rank TDA leaders” in Bogota, Colombia, who allegedly helped provide about five kilos of cocaine for international distribution, which according to prosecutors “was used for further TDA criminal goals.”

He was detained in Colombia on March 31 in accordance with the US arrest warrant, even though the department could not immediately say when, or whether, he would eventually be extracted to the US

“TDA is not a street gang – this is a very structured terrorist organization that laid the roots in our country during the previous government,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a DOJ press release. “Today’s accusation is a turn point in how the Department of Justice will sue and eventually dismantle this evil organization, which has destroyed American families and poisoned our community.”

Flores was charged with a conspiracy accusation to provide material support to TDA in the form of personnel (including him) and service and an accusation of providing material support to TDA. The indictment also accused a conspiracy of international drug distribution based on its involvement in the distribution of five kilograms of cocaine or more, and two substantive accusations of international drug distribution, according to release.

If proven guilty, he faced a maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of $ 10 million, according to the Department of Justice.

“TDA is a direct threat to our national security, for our community, and to Americans,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in its release. “Together with our law enforcement partners, the FBI continues our pursuit to eliminate this cruel terrorist organization from our paths, and today’s announcement makes it clear that these criminals, especially the leaders of this cartel, have no place in our country.”

Extracted Flores to the US to spend time behind bars, however, it seems to be contrary to the arguments that have been made in court in the last few weeks to defend their deportation who are rushed from alleged TDA members to El Salvador under the law of alien enemies.

Official DOJ believes that the presence of the alleged gang member can cause more dangerous conditions in prison, while rejecting criticism that the people should be given a process that must be carried out before they are sent to the famous Cecot facility.
