Diddy Trial Day 32 Recap: Combs decreased to testify

Sean “Diddy” Combs may have made his wealth with the lyrics, but told a judge on Tuesday that he had the right not to share his words by not taking a stand in his sex trading trial, which was expected to conclude this week.

Combs’s decision came about an hour after the prosecutor rested their long case against Combs, after calling 34 witnesses for 28 days. They spent seven weeks trying to convince the federal jury that Maestro Rap used his business empire to force women to become sex.

Facing the possibility of living in prison if punished for all things, most Combs remained silent since the trial began last month but confidently told the judge who watched the case that he would not testify.

“That’s my decision with my lawyer,” Combs said, when his voice exploded through a quiet courtroom.

“How do you feel today?” US District Judge Arun Subramian asked for Combs, standing to reply.

“I’m fine, how are you, Your Honor? I want to tell you, thank you. You do a very good job,” Combs said.

The moment marks the rare departure of the formality of the trial and testimony, which has been marked by very emotional and sometimes interfere with testimony.

Following the Combs announcement, his lawyer submitted a short case, only showing evidence of the jury that, they said, doubted the testimony of several witnesses. Combs lawyers said the evidence showed the alleged victims in this case actually approved a sex party that sometimes for days known as “strange” or “hotel night.”

The orgies are the core of the case against the comb, because the prosecutor accused the rapper of using his employees, wealth and influence to suppress women to participate and then squeeze or threaten them to be quiet. According to that testimony, Combs will make the choreography of the episode and then watch and masturbate while his girlfriend will have sex with male prostitutes.

Combs claimed to be innocent for the charges of sex trade, extortion and transportation conspiracy to be involved in prostitution.

The defender rested his case on Tuesday after asking the judge to issue an immediately release. Subramian did not decide on the motion, which is the standard in criminal cases.

Lawyers for both parties will return to court Wednesday to work with judges for special instructions that will be issued for the jury before the consideration begins.

The jury is scheduled to return to court on Thursday to hear the closing statement. Considerations can begin on Friday.

The reserve judge of the decision at the request of the Combs to throw the case

As soon as the prosecutor controlled their case against the comb, the defender’s lawyer asked the judge to find an innocent comb of all the accusations.

This step – known as a motion for “directed verdict” – is an argument that the prosecutor does not submit a case that proves guilt without doubt. Defenders’ lawyers routinely make a motion after the government rests, and judges rarely provide the request.

“Evidence does not stipulate that Mr. Combs conspiring with others to violate the law (extortion),” said Defending Lawyer Alexandra Shapiro. “They failed to show that every other person who really conspired with him to do the affairs of this recognized 20-year criminal company.”

Shapiro argues that every employee who might have helped Combs arrange hotel rooms to “strange” tasks as “personal duties” for comb and do not know about sexual activity that occurs in the room.

Shapiro also targeted accusations made by the Federal Prosecutor, who argued that the Combs Fireb for Porsche owned by Rapper Kid Cudi or bribes to silence a security guard who witnessed after the 2016 attack.

Defenders’ lawyers also returned to one of their main themes from all trials – while the comb might be involved in domestic violence and live unconventional sex life, he did not commit crimes, and that the prosecutor failed to prove that he was involved in sex trade.

“Domestic violence is not a sex trade,” Shapiro said.

Combs lawyers refuse to call any witnesses during a short defense case

Combs defenders’ lawyers rested their cases without calling witnesses, instead of just reading a few items into the notes.

Defense Lawyer Anna Estevao reads the exchange of text messages from singer Cassie Ventura, who expressed her love for the comb even after years of what the Federal Prosecutor said was forced to sex with male escort. Ventura and Combs are old romantic couples.

“In essence, I love you. You are important to me, and I know I will never have this love in this life,” Ventura wrote in a 2012 message. “Besides making love, talking to you is my favorite thing.”

In another message, Ventura told Combs, “I miss you.”

Combs replied, “So what are you going to do.” Ventura answered, “Be your Lil Freak.”

Defender lawyer Teny Geragos also read notes from law enforcement sessions with witnesses, showing some different testimonies from the original statement.

Daniel Phillip, the second witness who testified during the trial, initially told the judges that he saw a comb to throw a bottle at Ventura and “grabbed his hair and dragged him with his hair into the bedroom. Phillip testified?

Geragos reads the law enforcement record from a meeting with Phillip who seems to indicate Combs say something else: “Around 2013, Phillip saw Ventura physically attacked. Combs finally came out and said ‘Yo Man, I had to deal with this. You must get F-out,'” Geragos read.

While Combs lawyers submitted a defense case without witnesses, they spent days to question the witnesses of prosecution and use a cross to present most of their arguments to the jury. They tried to doubt the testimonies of the alleged victims, highlighting positive and loving messages that were exchanged with a comb, and with the reason interaction showed that women were willing to be participants at the Pora party.
