A 4 -year -old girl who received “medical treatment that saved lives” in the United States was given a hudal acquisition for one year, which enabled her and her mother to remain in the country, the child’s lawyer was announced on Tuesday.
His son and mother, Deysi Vargas, have lived in the US since 2023, but received three letters from the Department of Domestic Security in April said their humanitarian parole was being dismissed.
The young girl – identified by her lawyer with a pseudonym “Sofia” – Suffering from “” Short Intestine Syndrome, “which prevents it from being able to absorb nutrients and fluids from his own food.

Vargas received an official notification from the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) on Tuesday that he and his daughter were given a hudal parole. The parole period will take place exactly for one year, ending on June 1, 2026.
The legal victory came after Vargas brought Sofia to the biometric gathering promise at the USCIS field office in Bakersfield, California, on May 30.
“We are very grateful that the Uscis acted quickly to give Sofia and her mother for a year of humanitarian parole. By moving quickly, the agency has ensured that a four -year -old girl can continue to receive medical treatment that saves lives. We praise Uscis for her responsibilities and to recognize the urgency of this situation,” his lawyer said at the public counsel.
Sofia began to receive medical treatment that saved lives for this condition at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital when she and her parents crossed the border of Mexico in 2023 with humanitarian parole, Sofia’s lawyer said during a press conference in May.
Sofia’s medical treatment, which consists of her receiving special IV treatment for up to 14 hours a day, can only be managed in the United States, in accordance with equipment manufacturers, his lawyer said.

Vargas said that treatment in the US had allowed Sofia to “live her life” with her family, but if she and her daughter were forced to return to Mexico, Sofia “would be in the hospital day and night,” he said during a press conference.
