1 died in the mass victims after the boat crashed into Clearwater Ferry in Florida
One person was killed and many people were injured when a ship crashed into a Clearwater ferry in Clearwater, Florida, on Sunday night.
All injured are people at the ferry, according to the Clearwater Police Department.
There were 45 people on a ferry, including two crew members, when hit by a passing ship, the police said.
“It has been declared a mass victim incident by the fire department due to the number of injuries. All local hospitals have been notified,” wrote Clearwater PD in A Post on x on Sunday night.
“Multiple trauma warnings have been called by helicopters carrying two than more serious injured,” the post continued.
The first respondent attending the scene was an accident involving Clearwater ferry resulted in one death on April 27, 2025. The accident occurred near the Causeway Memorial Bridge in Florida.

The boat that crashed into the ferry fled from the scene, said Clearwater PD at a social media post on Sunday night.
After the accident, Feri came to rest at the sand bar in the south of the bridge. The first respondent and emergency personnel can then delete “all patients and passengers” from the ferry, the police said.

“And then we looked back behind us and this large cruise ship just passed the ship,” said the passenger, who was riding a ferry with two children and his wife, who was 31 weeks pregnant with the three couples.
Coast Guard said there were six people on a recreational ship, who left the scene. The authorities said it was later discovered by the response agent.
“The boat that escaped from the scene has been identified by other law enforcement agents,” said Clearwater PD. However, further details about the second ship involved in the incident are not yet available.
The Fish Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Florida will lead an accident investigation, the police said.
